Pent Roof vs Apex Roof Log Cabin

Pent Roof V Apex Roof Log Cabin

Choosing between an Apex and a Pent roof for your log cabin might be a confusing process if you do not know the difference between the two. Read on to find out everything you need to know on the subject.

What Is an Apex Roof?

When you are building or remodeling a log cabin, the roof is one of the most important parts. It protects you from rain, snow, and other weather conditions. Additionally, it keeps you safe and warm.

Many people worry about how the walls and the exterior look, but the roof is just as important. Therefore, understanding what an Apex roof is, is essential if you are thinking about getting one on your house.

An Apex roof is entirely different from a Pent roof. When you ask professionals to install an Apex one, you get a roof with two slopes meeting in the middle.

On many occasions, children learn to draw houses by drawing a square, then a triangle on top of it, which is the roof. An Apex roof looks very similar to that, especially when you get it on a log cabin.

Getting an Apex roof gives your cabin a classic look. Since it resembles the type of home many people know and love, you might feel completely content with it.

How to Felt a Large Apex Shed Roof

One of the most important parts of keeping your garden shed safe is felting it, so it is completely protected. If you do that, you can make sure it doesn't suffer any damages from harsh weather or anything similar.

To felt a large Apex shed roof, there are a few things you need to get the job done. You have to get a craft knife, some wood and nails, roofing felt, a tape measure, a hammer, some adhesive, and a paintbrush.

The first thing you need to do is to remove any old felt left there. If you find any nails holding the felt, use the hammer to get them out completely. You can’t put something new if the old remains.

After that, get your felt and start measuring how much you need to cover the roof. You have to make sure you get enough to cover it completely, otherwise, you would need to start the process all over again.

Once you make the correct measurements, start cutting your felt. Use a craft knife or a Stanley knife to do the job, as those are the best ones for it. Make sure you follow the correct measurements you determined earlier.

The next step is fairly easy. You have to roll the felt back up again and place it on the roof. Start with the edges, and ensure it hangs a bit beyond the eaves. Before securing anything, you might want to do a couple of things to guarantee the process is going to turn out perfectly.

Grab a pencil and mark where the felt is supposed to go. Then, make sure it's completely aligned with the roof. If it is not, correct it until it is the way you want it to be.

By now, you must be content with how it is looking. Start nailing your felt across the length of the roof. Once you do, make sure it is lying flat across the surface and continue nailing, this time around the eaves. Instead of working on the top of the shed, begin on the side.

One of the sides should be completely secured by now. Thus, start repeating the same procedure in the other one. To work on the middle, you must first guarantee both sides are ready.

A great tip to make your felt steady and beautiful is to use adhesive when you're working on the middle part of your roof. Place the final strip and make sure it overlaps the other ones.

Then, lay the adhesive on the paintbrush and use it on the two side strips instead of the middle one. You should make sure the product only covers the overlapping area. Finally, finish the whole process using nails where the middle and the outer strips meet.

Although the main process is done, you might want to make your shed roof look neat and beautiful. Therefore, you should take care of the corners of the overhangs.

Work on each corner and identify the excess felt. Fold it to make a flap, and then nail it in place, so it's not hanging. Once everything is in place, you can reattach fascia boards to guarantee your shed roof looks amazing.

Some of the Cabins We Offer with an Apex Roof

If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind cabin with an Apex roof, you should look at our beautiful selection. We have several alternatives many people might like, as they please different tastes and styles.

Our Amber cabin is one of the most popular due to its curved design on the roof's edge. The feminine lines, for some people, resemble waves, which is why it makes them feel relaxed and content.

The Hawaii is another fun option if you want to go for a more casual one. It has a tropical vibe you can’t get away from.

What is a Pent Roof?

Unlike an Apex roof, a Pent roof has only one slope. Therefore, it's completely flat and doesn't resemble a triangle.

Pent roofs are perfect if you need something more compact, or if your cabin is near many trees. Since they're smaller, they could perfectly fit in there.

Pent Roof Summer Houses

Getting a Pent roof summer house is a great idea if you want a small place to relax. It gives you an enclosed space to unwind and forget about your worries.
